Size Does Not Matter...
Welcome to my first blog!
This is where I will be writing all about my experiences within the garden and the business of a gardening business (in my own words).
So, first of all... Size doesn't matter.
Now, it's not about anything else but the size of your garden. There is a huge misconception about the size of your garden and the price of work that needs doing. If there is a lot of work to be done, then the amount of work is what will cost either more or less.
If your garden needs a tidy up, or it hasn't been touched in over a year, then more than likely you will find yourself in need of more work to be done to get it to the stage of where it needs to be for spring/summer and so on, so blooms can spread and it can be the healthiest it can be.
I often get people asking me for work and they're expecting to pay little or barely anything at all when they have a small garden. It's not the case in many ways as there are many factors to put in place for the work.
- Travel to the garden and property
- Fuel for machinery
- Wear and tear of machinery
- Labour costs
- Wastage costs (if applicable)
The garden and the business of the garden can be very costly. You see it in all DIY shops and garden centres, B&Q, Wickes, Notcutts etc... of all the prices rising but we often have to pay because that is the price and the costs above are a massive part of this business.
We often overlook the cost of everything by just looking at the work needed; but if you can see it from the gardeners point of view, would you re-think getting a gardener? Or would you pay for the service regardless to enjoy your garden and outdoor space?
Of course, demographics also play a huge part in pricing and how much the work on a specific garden may cost, but it does without saying that if the garden has been left, it will still cost to get it all sorted.
