👀 The Biggest Misconceptions About a Gardener 👀

Hello,

If you've been reading this far, then thank you for sticking with me.

This is something that grinds my gears a lot about what people think about sole traders in this industry. It's the mis-conception about gardeners just being knock off pirate traders and tonne increasingly cheap.

For many of people, including myself it's getting increasingly harder to find customers who would pay for exceptional gardening, than to find customers who want to pay for average gardening. Most people don't have the funds, but as a gardener and starting a business from the bottom up without any funding from the government and just doing it by myself with my family. It's come to my attention that having this reputation of being a "knock off" gardener isn't my style...

I have standards that I meet for myself.

When I started, I was just getting to grips with it all. It was overwhelming for the most part. Now, there does become issues by I can resolve them quickly and find solutions that will work almost 99% of the time.

As business owners, that's our key job.
To find solutions where there are issues within our skillset. We follow instructions from our customers to then do it to the best of our experience and ability to bring the best out of our customers gardens.

It's not just a cut and blow and go every single time, there is planning to be put in place, safety to think of and when it's wet or you're not given time, then that's when problems can occur, and this happens for a lot of people. That I why, I personally like to take my care and time and to give myself enough time to make the job look as good as possible and have the best possible outcome for the customer.
This in-turn, comes with investment of new machines to do better work, efficient work, that will leave your customers amazed at what you do and the methods you use to complete the job in a timely manner.

People often think that gardeners are retired or have loads of spare time, this again, is not the case.
But it's also this that means that people pay pennies.

Gardens alone are not cheap to maintain.
We all know the price hikes of fuel, soil, plants and everything that's involved in the garden, so the supplement has increased by over 145% in most cases. So really, when you think of hiring someone to do the job for you, it's more of the respect of what they have to do to prepare for the job in hand, rather than "it gets done everyday".
Being self employed is not an easy task, so if you can respect the efforts, you'll respect the finished product.
Not every garden will be prestine, like the gardens you see that AI create, but it will bloom just as well if you get the right person to prepare it.

Professional gardeners will not leave you in the lurch if you don't waste their time. It's only when time is wasted, fuel has been paid to fill up the vehicle and machines where the money is lost, as well as the job.

I have customers that are so pleased with my own preparation, and sometimes it doesn't work out, but I'm always there to fix my own experimental issues.
That is the difference from getting someone to do a one off job, then getting someone else to finish an incomplete job.

As a gardener, effort, passion and creativity are such a big factor and yes you have to step outside the box and step outside your comfort zone, because if you haven't tried something, you'll never know if it'll work, and that goes the same with working with other people's gardens. Knowing the garden, and knowing what flowers and plants are to go where is a big factor into having a successful garden.

As always preparation is key.
