There Will Always Be Someone Else Doing a Cheaper Quote and That Is Harming The Industry
In the reality of this world, there is always someone else who will do the cheaper job, but what they don't realise and the mistakes that I have made are the fact that it's their body and your body on the line for doing the cheaper work.
I can fully understand if you're starting out and getting your name out there for the work to come through (I was the busiest I have been when I was doing that). This is not the case for myself now as I have an established name and many people have used my services. So the industry standard of pricing is what it is worth.
When it comes to being a professional gardener, it comes within the final details of everything in which you do, whether it's rain or shine, nothing comes in the way.
I was doing a garden yesterday in fact. It was sunny at the start and then it started getting grey and dark and woosh, the rain came in hard for a bit. They didn't stop me because I know the worth of my work and the worth in which I rate myself.
Now that's not being big headed, it's about the confidence you have within yourself and the confidence in the work you give to your customers.
When starting it gets shakey and there are teething problems, which is normal with a business running for the first time, but as you get used to doing things your own way and not someone else's, it makes things so much easier to manage.
There are other things to manage too, but this is about the physically demanding stuff, the actual work.
I feel people are paying far too cheap for the work they are recieving, and in many cases you get what you pay for. You can have someone in for a while day for say... £100 and you'll get shoddy work, it'll be a mess and you won't like what you see, but if you had someone for £350 for a day, you'll get exactly what you pay for.
Clean, neat tidy and professional work that you will want time after time, after time.
It's common sense, right?
But common sense doesn't go to everyone who wants the work done, they're just thinking of their pockets.
So instead of thinking of your pockets, would you rather have quality work which in turn will save you money? Or would you spend more and yourselves having to go over cleaning up someone else's mess? Or even getting another company to come and clean that mess up?
I know what I'd, do.
